The Chinese embassy in Bangladesh has inaugurated the second smart classroom under the ‘China Bangladesh Friendship Talent Development Project’. An inauguration ceremony has been held to launch the smart classroom at Sofir Uddin High School and College, Sylhet on Sunday.
This smart classroom has been equipped with Huawei IdeaHub, an advanced learning solution that will allow teachers and students to have advanced onsite and online teaching and study platforms. Huawei south Asia donated chairs, tables, and decoration materials for the smart classroom as a technical partner of this project.
Yao Wen, Ambassador, Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Bangladesh, and Pan Junfeng, President of Huawei South Asia and CEO, Huawei Bangladesh, inaugurated the classroom. Other High officials from the Chinese embassy and Huawei also attended the inauguration.
The smart classroom was handed over to the principal of Sofir Uddin High School during the inauguration. Afterwards, a demonstration of IdeaHub’s utility was conducted in front of the guests, showcasing the smart classroom features for creating smart citizens for a smart country.
Md Jasim Uddin, Additional Divisional Commissioner (Revenue), said, “The smart classroom is a sign of China-Bangladesh friendship. In this month of victory, we have taken a step forward towards the smart Bangladesh. With the advancements of 5G technology, today’s students will lead the global arena in the future. We have to prepare ourselves for leading the fourth industrial revolution and for the era of artificial intelligence. I hope that many other institutions in Sylhet will get such smart classrooms in the next year.”
H.E. Yao Wen, Ambassador, Embassy of the People’s Republic of China to the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, said, “As a friend, China gives opportunities for the development of the people of Bangladesh. The prime minister has dreamt of a smart Bangladesh. But for that, we must have smart citizens, smart people, smart students. That’s why we have the classroom. With this classroom, students will have the best learning opportunities. We will spread the classroom all over Sylhet and the country. And we promise that next year we will select some students and teachers for a visit to China.”
Pan Junfeng, President of Huawei South Asia and CEO, Huawei Bangladesh said, “Huawei, as a global ICT infrastructure leader, has always put local talent development programs at high importance. Our friendship project Seeds For The Future has been providing outstanding opportunities for students to expand their global horizons. Last year, we launched Huawei ICT Academy. This year, Chinese Embassy initiated the China-Bangladesh Friendship Talent Development Project. As a part, we provided the smart classroom with the most advanced and multi-functional teaching equipment to provide students with advanced learning opportunities. It is a very good and important initiative of or joint effort to develop the ICT talents in Bangladesh.
Prof Rashid Ahmed, Principal, Sofir Uddin High School and College, said, “I thank the Chinese Embassy and Huawei Technologies Bangladesh for gifting us smart classroom. I hope and strongly believe the Chinese supporting hand will remain with this institution forever.”
Previously, In March, 2023, Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh and Huawei South Asia inaugurated the first digital classroom in Chandpur Government Technical School and College.
