FY25 budget targets 6.5pc inflation

The national budget for the fiscal year 2024-25 (FY25) has set an inflation target of 6.5 per cent.
The same target was set in the budget of the current financial year but was revised later to 7.5 per cent.

Finance Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali said this at the national budget session at the Jatiya Sangsad on Thursday.

However, the inflation rate was more than 9.0 per cent throughout the current financial year. As of May this year, the country’s overall inflation rate was reported at around 10.0 per cent.

The budget session began at 3:00 pm. Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury is presiding over the session in the presence of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
